SBS would like to send a big “Thank You” to all who attended our open house celebrating the completion of our new headquarters in Maryland. The event turned out to be a huge success with approximately 140 guests despite the 90 +F degree temperature and stifling humidity. The first visitors arrived right at 4 pm and a steady stream followed up until 7 pm when the winners of the door prizes were announced.
Throughout the evening, tours were given of the lab which not only allowed people to see and learn about the day to day activities but also the history of SBS and its development by owner Paul Loomis. A featured item on the tour was the phantom powered by a hydraulic system which can be lowered after a stallion is collected to ease the strain on his back and hind legs associated with mounting. Topics discussed were not limited to stallion services, which SBS is known for, but also the addition of our mare management program which we hope to grow due to the larger facility and mare exam room.
The evening culminated with the drawing for door prizes many of which were graciously donated by our clients and local vendors. The prizes included gift baskets from The Mill of Bel Air and Stoltzfus Feed & Supply, tote bags from Bit-of-Britain tack shop, veterinary services from Unionville Equine & Assoc., an auditor’s fee for a training session at Hassler Dressage, as well as gift certificates for services at SBS. B & D Builders, the company that built the state of the art facility, contributed to the cost of the food. Perhaps the most exciting prizes were breedings donated by Iron Spring Farm for their stallion Riverman ISF and Hilltop Farm for Parabol. All of the winners were excited to receive their gifts and SBS was humbled by the generosity of our sponsors who made the event so special.
"A big thanks to you and your staff for a very nice open house. It is wonderful having your top notch facility in our neighborhood. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and now understand the intricate procedure necessary to harvest and preserve sperm. Filling those little straws sure take a lot of know how. Again thanks for your invitation. It was a very enjoyable day." Barbara Weinbrecht, Earleville MD
Again, thank you to our sponsors, guests, and vendors for joining us as we look forward to hosting more events in the future. For more photos of the Open House, visit our Facebook page.
