Select Breeders Southwest, Inc. is pleased to announce Radical Rodder (HotRodders Jet Set x Flashy Bar Flower), owned by Diane Chilton, will remain at their facility for the 2013 breeding season. Diane purchased Radical Rodder in March of 1992 when he was a yearling. Shortly thereafter his sire, Hotrodders Jet Set (Docs Hotrodder x Miss Clique), passed away as a result of a tragic injury. Diane received pressure from many breeders to stand Radical Rodder at stud due to the popularity of his sire. With Radical Rodder being the first stallion Diane would own it was not a decision she made lightly. She had been a mare owner since 1979 which allowed her to understand the mare owner’s side of the breeding industry. She knew that if she did keep Radical Rodder a stallion she could help others achieve the ultimate goal…a beautiful, athletic foal.

During his show career Radical Rodder won over $17,000 while earning more than 91 AQHA Western Pleasure and Halter points. He also received his performance ROM as well as Superior and World Championship titles in Western Pleasure for both Junior and Senior events. 

He began his breeding career in 1994 with his first foals hitting  the ground in the spring of 1995. When Diane was asked what her significant accomplishments have been she responded with, "Making Radical Rodder a World Champion and Superior Horse and then producing over 15 World Champion offspring, as well as being an AQHA leading sire for the Amateur, Open and Youth since 2000.”

He has also sired World and National Champions in 6 major breed associations (American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse, Palomino Horse Breeders of America, American Pinto Association, International Buckskin Association, and the Appaloosa Horse Club). His offspring are diverse and compete in many different disciplines such as Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Halter, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, and Trail. They have won over $1 million and earned over 32,000 points. These extremely talented athletes include, Radical Rumors (Radical Rodder x Platinum Flash) who has won over $100,000.

In 2012 the breeding facility where Radical Rodder stood for 14 years closed. Diane was left to make the very important decision of where her beloved stallion would call home. After many offers from other breeding facilities she chose Select Breeders Southwest in Aubrey, TX.

“The expertise is huge at SBSW and made the choice easy. We brought them a senior stallion at the age of 21 and they did their job beautifully. The ability to use them to consult with mare owners on any or all aspects of getting a foal is as they say, priceless. Breeding vets from around the country all felt very comfortable in getting results once they knew SBSW was involved. They knew the brand and they felt complete confidence in the staff.”

The team at SBSW was familiar with Radical Radical prior to his arrival in 2012 as they had been processing his frozen semen for several years. Freezing semen from Radical Rodder allowed Diane to open up his book to mares throughout the world but especially in Australia.

At the age of 22 years old Radical Rodder looks fabulous and still loves his job as a breeding stallion. With 960 foals already on the ground SBSW is looking forward to assisting Diane with reaching her goal of having 1000 Radical Rodder foals grace this planet.
