Jennifer Weske-Monroe of Melissa, Texas has spent the past 15 years breeding quality colorful Morgan horses for her Monroe Exotic Morgan Collection (MEMC). It all began with the purchase of her cremello Morgan stallion, MEMC Tequila Cuervo (photo below right), when he was just a yearling. At the age of three he was one of only three registered cremello Morgan stallions in the world. It was at that time when she took him to Select Breeders Southwest in Aubrey, Texas for an initial semen evaluation. She has been utilizing them for her stallion service needs ever since. Shortly thereafter she purchased the most complimentary rival to her stallion, the cremello Morgan stallion Nashboro Sir Galahad (photo below left).

Weske-Monroe's goal today is the same as it was all those years ago, “to breed the finest quality Morgan horses of classical type and conformation in rare and unique colors”. Her carefully planned breeding program centered on breeding a select group of mares to her foundation stallions. The next step was to cross the offspring of each stallion with the other so the resulting foals would have the blood of both.

After she reached her goal of producing quality golden Morgans she began to focus on her second dream which was to add rare pinto genes to the cream dilutes. In 1998 she purchased High White Revolution, a double registered Morgan and Pinto who primarily brought the sabino gene to her herd and shortly after added two full sister splash white mares. She achieved her second goal with the birth of the rare and unique stallion, MEMC On Target (below right) who carries all three color genes and personifies the classic Morgan.

Many significant accomplishments can be accredited to Weske-Monroe. She was the first to produce a homozygous splash stallion, MEMC On Target, in the Morgan breed who is a buckskin sabino splash white. In 2007 she produced the first and only cremello and full foundation bred son of MEMC Tequila Cuervo, MEMC Magnifico. MEMC Tequila Cuervo is still one of the top colorful Morgan sires today. His daughter, MEMC Graffitti, ridden and owned then by Kelly Kraegel was the 2008 Reserve World Champion Western Pleasure 3 year old.

When her relationship started with SBS it was to train her stallions for collection and for them to provide the services of processing and shipping cooled semen. However, with the pending sale of Nashboro Sir Galahad she ventured into the world of frozen semen. Since that time she also took MEMC Tequila Cuervo to SBS for semen freezing. When asked how frozen semen as helped her she said:

“A major advantage of freezing this stallion has been to free up my time as well. I can do paperwork by email all across the world and then SBS executes the shipping portion of the frozen semen".

Such advantages have allowed her to breed mares domestically and overseas. The first MEMC Tequila Cuervo foals in Australia will be born in 2012. “I have wonderful friendships all over the world thanks to the use of this frozen semen. It has been an exciting and amazing opportunity”.

MEMC Tequila Cuervo will be visiting SBS again this year for semen freezing and will be joined by another one of Weske-Monroe’s young and rare stallions. When asked why she chose SBS, her answer is:

“SBS is simply THE BEST. I have had them handling all of my stallions’ cooled and frozen semen shipments for 15 years now They have been error free and always extremely helpful to me and my clients. I also like that they are highly respected internationally and with affiliates all over the world as well, they can handle anywhere I would want my stallion semen to go”.
