Select Breeders Services wishes to welcome our newest Affiliate Laboratory, Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services (BVERS) in Ohio. The clinic was founded in 2005 by Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen, a Board Certified Theriogenologist with 20 plus years of clinical experience. Their specialty is equine reproduction. They are located approximately one-hour northeast of Columbus, Ohio. The facility is nestled on approximately 40 acres where they also maintain an embryo transfer recipient herd for their embryo transfer program. They also offer services to Ohio and the Midwest region through their in-house and ambulatory practice. BVERS provides breeding and management of problem mares, complete embryo transfer services, on site foaling, frozen semen services and comprehensive stallion work-up.
Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen received her DVM degree in 1989 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Master's Degree in Equine Reproduction at Texas A&M University in 1993. After completion of a 3-year residency program at The Ohio State University, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology. She worked at Specifically Equine, Buellton, California, for approximately two years, and Firethorn Equine Services in Lancaster, Ohio, for 5 years. She started Bella Vista Equine in 2005. Dr. Martinsen has given many presentations and lectures in the United States and internationally during her career and she enjoys teaching and sharing her passion for equine reproduction. Dr. Martinsen said,
"Since our inception, our goal has been to provide high quality, reasonably priced, equine reproductive services. We know that our success depends on our relationship with our clients and, therefore, we seek to listen, to communicate and to educate them in order to continuously improve our client relationships and their breeding programs."
Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services is proud to announce that it is now a Select Breeders Services Affiliate Lab. As an affiliate SBS laboratory, Bella Vista will be able to offer the best frozen semen program in the industry. As part of the affiliation laboratory network, Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services will follow their strict quality control while using SBS proven semen extenders and semen freezing protocols. Dr. Martinsen said, “We are proud to be part of the SBS network team and provide higher quality frozen semen standards to the stallions in our area.”
