About
Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services is a specialized reproductive clinic located approximately one-hour northeast of Columbus, Ohio. Our grounds consist of approximately forty acres, where we maintain a recipient herd for our Embryo Transfer program.
Bella Vista offers services to Ohio and Midwest region through the in-house and ambulatory practice. BVERS provides breeding and management of problem mares, complete embryo transfer services, on site foaling, frozen semen services and comprehensive stallion work-up. Bella Vista Equine was founded in 2005 by Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen, a Board Certified Theriogenologist with 20+ years of clinical experience.
Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services is proud to announce that it is now a Select Breeders Services Affiliate Lab. As an affiliate SBS laboratory, Bella Vista will be able to offer the best frozen semen program in the industry. As part of the affiliation laboratory network, Bella Vista Equine Reproductive Services will follow their strict quality control while using the SBS proprietary semen extenders and semen freezing protocols. “We are proud to be part of the SBS network team and provide higher quality frozen semen standards to the stallions in our area.”

Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen
Dr. Elizabeth Martinsen received her DVM degree in 1989 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a Master's Degree in Equine Reproduction at Texas A&M University in 1993. After completion of a 3-year residency program at The Ohio State University, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenology. She worked at Specifically Equine, Buellton, California, for approximately two years, and Firethorn Equine Services Lancaster, Ohio, for 5 years. She started Bella Vista Equine in 2005. Dr. Martinsen has given many presentations and lectures in the United States and internationally during her career and she enjoys teaching and sharing her passion for equine reproduction.
